Uncertainty and Signs

The other day, during my morning walk, I saw this flyer on the ground. Normally, I would have passed it up, but this time, I immediately stopped and picked it up. That's because to me, it was more than just a piece of paper on the ground. It was a sign. It was a sign I needed from God and my spiritual support system that I was doing the right thing. You see, earlier that morning, I had launched my series promoting those critical 0 - 5 years in a child's development. I had decided to specifically target Black boys and felt good about my vision. But when it was time to actually post, the nerves crept up, and the doubtful talk started. Am I doing the right thing? Does this look okay? How many likes will it get? What if it gets no likes? It was pretty bad. But I launched it anyway. And then, I went on my walk. And then, I saw the flyer, and then it all came to me: just do the work. That’s all I have to do – the work. And seeing this flyer lets me know that I’m doing what I’m supposed to do. I’m not responsible for the outcome. I just have to do my part. I must listen and obey. I must have that Bus Stop Obedience. And the rest will take care of itself.
